Are you sending dogs, cats or ferrets to Switzerland?

Identifikation

1. Identification
ISO-Microchip 

Microchip must be implanted on the day or before the rabies vaccination.   


Identitiy Card

2. Identity card
A correctly completed pet ID card is sufficiant. In the case of foreign pets, an EU veterinary certificate competed by an official veterinarian is needed if there is no pet ID card (pet passport) in the country of origin.


Rabies/Tollwut

3. Effective rabies vaccination
Always necessary. It is effective 21 days after vaccination until the end of the period of validity (as indicated by the vaccine manufacturer).

Blood test/Bluttest

4. Blood test
At least 30 days after rabies vaccination. At least three month must elapse between blood sampling and entry into the country.


Permit

5. Import permit
An import permit is required when entering Switzerland as excess baggage or pet in cabin from a rabies risk country directly through a Swiss Airport. Dogs and cats arriving as cargo do not require an import permit.


Customs

For customs purposes the following documents are required:

Docked tails or ears/kupierte Ohren oder Schwänze

6. Docked tails or ears
It is forbidden to bring dogs with docked tails or ears into the country. The only exceptions are for holiday stays or relocation to Switzerland.


 

7. Relocation
When relocating to Switzerland, please provide your passport copy, residency permit and/or work letter stating your relocation. A customs form 18.44 is required for dogs with docked tails/ears only.


 

8. Purchase
When buying a puppy or kitten abroad, an invoice is required.
